/wē/ mash up

by MICHIYAYA Dance — Anya + Mitsuko Clarke-Verdery

Through the use of recovered footage of their work /wē/, MICHIYAYA Dance creates a mashup video reflecting on ideas of sustainability and the presentation of structures. In the time of COVID-19, Anya and Mitsuko wanted to create a work out of something already familiar, yet also new. Presenting a mashup of "crashed" footage, excerpts from their performance of /wē/ appear simultaneously on the screen. Ideas from their original work of finding one's identity, warped time and memory come to the forefront.
