Portraits of Process

I am taking on a long form project of gathering information about how artists and teachers construct their own paradigms of information-sharing within preexisting systems of thought, artistic and pedagogical lineages, and socio-economic realities. I am thinking of them as portraits, and they are presented through a variety of ways (visual, oral, written).

Jessie Young is a Brooklyn-based choreographer working in dance, performance, and embodied pedagogy. She challenges conventions of image construction and meaning-making through a choreographic excavation of corporeal knowledge and perceptual experience, viewing her work as an intrinsically feminist practice.
