Kathleen Kelley (Artistic Director)
Kathleen Kelley is a choreographer, media artist, and Assistant Professor of Dance Technique and Technology at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, she received her BFA in Dance and BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and her MFA in Dance with a minor concentration in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Kelley's live choreography has been supported by a 2015-2016 LEIMAY Fellowship. Recent performances include the interactive installation Digitized Figures at Gowanus Loft, a commissioned premiere in the Split Bill Series at Triskelion Arts, and showcase performances in the SOAK Festival, the CURRENT SESSIONS, Nimbus OFFLINE choreography series, and HATCH series.
As a media artist, Kelley works in all aspects of performance media and film. She choreographed a music video for award-winning cellist Maya Beiser, and has created two dance films in collaboration with the Theatre/Dance and Film Departments at Montclair State University. Her dance/poetry hybrid video “Territory” premiered in the TriQuarterly literary magazine, and her video work in the interactive installation “Digitized Figures” has been featured in the Philly FringeArts Digital Fringe Festival, the Moving Poems blog, the Small Po[r]tions Intermedia Literary Journal, and the Rutgers University Momentum Technology Videos Festival.
As a scholar, Kelley writes and presents extensively on technology, feminism and dance education. Her most recent article "Documenting Your Dance Performance" was published in March 2016 in the National Dance Education Organization's journal Dance Education in Practice. She has presented creative work and teaching strategies at the annual conferences of both the National Dance Education Organization and the Congress on Research in Dance.
Breeanah Breeden (Managing Director)
Bree Breeden is from Cheraw, S.C. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography from Montclair State in 2016 where she performed works by Bill T.Jones, Jose Limon, Larry Keigwin, and Martha Graham. Currently, she is a dancer and the Managing Director for Proteo Media + Performance, the Operations Associate at Movement Research, Production Manager for Sidra Bell Dance New York, and dances with VON HOWARD PROJECT and Michiyaya DANCE.
She also choreographs and performs her own work which has been presented at Embodied Spaces Festival in 2018, Montclair State University in 2015 in Danceworks and ACDFA and at Earl Mosley Institute of the Arts dance talk series in 2016. She was awarded the Choreographic Excellence Award in 2015 and Outstanding Performer Award in 2016 from Montclair State University.
